AI Analogies with us humans — Elders and Learning

My wife says I talk crazy stuff and that I should be sharing. These are some random thoughts I have over this week. I hope you enjoy it:

“When I think about Artificial intelligence, I like to compare and make analogies with us humans.
An elderly man is like an AI model that was fine-tuned for a given set of tasks, based on his previous experiences (personal dataset), and external feedback from his environment ( reinforcement learning). However the environmental changes and the dataset as well, and if your learning rate decreases as you get old (decay rate) you became a model that is less suited for the present.
Normalizing data also happen to us humans, if you compare yourself with the people that you know, you might lack the compassion or understanding of what happens to others in a worse or better situation than you are. Sometimes we complain because we are below average given our inner circle but we might be much higher than the global average. The higher number of people you know and the more diversified it is (“big balanced dataset”) the better your perception of the world.
We need to keep learning, reading, and having our minds open.
Technologies change, people change, we evolve and we need a step backward to give a leap forward.
